My name is Karen, and I am a veteran Special Education and General Education teacher with 20 years of experience. Throughout my career, I have had the pleasure of working with all 13 eligibilities identified by the Individuals with Disability Education Act (IDEA) in the public school system. I have participated in and facilitated hundreds of Individualized Education Program (IEP) meetings, providing IEP help to ensure that students receive appropriate support, services, accommodations, and modifications tailored to their eligibility. Additionally, I have worked with many students who exhibit learning gaps or weaknesses but have not yet been diagnosed by their physician or school psychologist. My training allows me to identify disabilities even without a pending diagnosis, which is essential for effective educational advocacy. I am committed to providing parent educational assistance and special education support to help every student succeed.

In addition to my classroom experience, I am highly educated and dedicated to educational advocacy. I graduated from Gordon State College with an Associate’s degree in Psychology, followed by a Bachelor’s degree in Special Education from the University of Georgia. Furthermore, I obtained a Master’s degree in Special Education from Walden
In addition to my classroom experience, I am highly educated and dedicated to educational advocacy. I graduated from Gordon State College with an Associate’s degree in Psychology, followed by a Bachelor’s degree in Special Education from the University of Georgia. Furthermore, I obtained a Master’s degree in Special Education from Walden University and an Education Specialist degree in Teacher/Educational Leadership from Valdosta State University. I also hold a National Certification for Advocacy through the Dyslexic Institute, which compliments my commitment to providing IEP help and parent educational assistance, as well as enhancing special education support for all students.

While I am passionate about helping young people reach their full educational potential, I also aspire to provide parents with educational assistance as they support their child(ren) in becoming the best learners possible. As a teacher, I advocated for my students as much as possible; however, I often felt that my students were not fully supported by the educational authorities. I encountered limitations as an employee and realized that many educators do not prioritize the best interests of their students. Moreover, the school system has let down many parents by failing to offer adequate special education support, explaining the evaluation process in layman's terms, and providing the necessary resources for each learner. This realization has inspired me to follow my dream and establish 'Bridging the Gap of Clarksville, LLC.' As a parent of a child with a learning disability, I understand the feelings of defeat parents experience when their child(ren) struggle in school without any outlet for support. I invite you to allow me the opportunity to help you navigate your child's educational journey. My support is individualized to meet the needs of every learner, while my services remain consistent. I will guide you through the Special Education process from start to finish, every step of the way. Whether it’s drafting emails or attending a Parent/Teacher/IEP meeting with you, Bridging the Gap of Clarksville is committed to ensuring your child(ren) receives the very best!
